notes of a shepherd’s way outreach worker,,,
“It’s 2:30am. I can’t get back to sleep. I am worrying about the young people I meet in the park. I will see them again in a few hours. Teenagers some, runaways no doubt. I know they’re cold; frightened for sure. The evil facing them is too much. It’s an evil that consumes many of our young who end up on the streets, unhoused and scared, an evil that has many faces, one that’s after every soul.”
“Hungry? I know they are. I try to feed them. I often go out alone, because I can’t get anyone to go with me so early in the morning. I should wait and go out with others. Resources are scarce. We juggle what we have. We often dig into our own pockets, go without. We try to figure out where we can best share what little we have.”
“Maybe our pleas for others to help their homeless brothers and sisters will be heard. Soon, another day in the parks will happen.”
