We just finished up our morning outreach for this Saturday. Interesting.
Met up with a homeless fellow who said he was walking through Victory Park yesterday morning and he forgot that you’re not supposed to smoke in the parks. Well, he had a cigarette in his mouth and a police officer saw him and gave him a ticket.
People are congregating at night down by the river and show up at 7:00AM at the parks. They stay just so long then they are told to move.
Handed out about 50 sandwiches, 12 snack packs, socks, women’s slacks, emergency survival blankets, 100 bottles of water.
Met some folks we’ve known since 2018. They are still on the streets chronically homeless. We reached into our pockets, went down to Dunkin Donuts and bought them coffee and turkey sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches on English muffins. They said that they’d be moving on because they’re being told to leave where they are.
They tell us where they think it is safe for us to go and where to avoid.
We may go back this afternoon and hand out more clothes and food.
