Cutting Back on Outreach
During the recent heat wave, we’ve been going out early each morning delivering water, snack packs, and hygiene kits to our unhoused friends. This schedule has required a lot of resources, preparation, scheduling, and delivery. Up until recently we were able to handle the load quite well. But about ten days ago the demand started… Read more

SHEPHERD’S WAY IS FEELING BLESSED
JULY 10, 2024 A very touching/spiritual experience. We’re in the process of discontinuing our WIX hosted website and its accompanying domains (shepherds-way.info and shepherds-way.com) in favor of Bluehost which is more user-friendly for us and hopefully cheaper. Just A Smile
Unsheltered homeless people are frequently dehumanized — by such things as trauma, addiction, circumstances and fear of others. But we should never forget that they are human beings and as such deserving of kindness and compassion. We can help an unsheltered homeless person by making them feel seen, loved and worthwhile. Just a smile or… Read more

Why we don’t take photos
People have asked us why we don’t take pictures to promote our organization when we are out doing outreach to help the unhoused homeless. It’s because we understand that dignity is a core aspect of humanity and we try to help the unhoused homeless to preserve it. Few people who find themselves in the unfortunate… Read more

Doing Outreach
People ask me what it is like working in an outreach on the streets. I’ve been doing it for years. Here’s what I tell them: “It’s not glamorous. It can be challenging, sad, and, at times, dangerous. It can be heartbreaking and lead to some difficult emotions. But it just might be the most important,… Read more
