During the recent heat wave, we’ve been going out early each morning delivering water, snack packs, and hygiene kits to our unhoused friends. This schedule has required a lot of resources, preparation, scheduling, and delivery.
Up until recently we were able to handle the load quite well. But about ten days ago the demand started to exceed what we could do.
Yes, the unhoused homeless situation has gotten worse and what we do is desperately needed. However, with donations falling off and supplies dwindling, we’ve had no other choice than to scale back our outreach.
We stopped completely for three days (this past Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) not knowing if we could continue. Fortunately, however, we found some funds.
But, we’re having to scale back. Until we get more resources, we’re just going to do Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. That’s the best we can do.
